flat iron this, beyotch.

hair

to get to point A➜ ?, I've gone Q -W-H to get to B & continue to travel the unknown universe. sometimes w/ a flatiron. beyotch.

ok translation cause i get a lot of 'what you talking about? i have no idea, you are so random comments....
(back story) i put up a pic on twitter of myself w/ straight, and the consensus was curly by a mile.... almost became a don't abandon your naturalness, sister debate....

MY reality as an actor is to play characters...not myself. Hollywood deems straightened hair as more educated, a lawyer, wife etc...
Shirely Temple curls do not always have desired effect, & having the same do since i was 5... natural curls are not, can be (great, but) monotonous.

it's the chess moves we all have to make, to work w/in, w/o the systems and conventions of our chosen field, it's a delicate war balance to be an artist, who makes a living...while maintaining sanity....you also have to be a business person, so you may have to bend or sway.. but never break!

  1. You look stunning in straight hair also! I guess I was jus lucky that the only thing I had in my contracts were no new tattoos with profanity or nudity, lol. You look great! Keep rockin it.

  2. Curly hair or straight hair, it doesn't matter, Rachel. Either way, you're still beautiful. Besides, when it comes to hair, I can't criticize.

You have a beautiful mane either way. In the interest of film I like the idea of using your hair to draw out a character. Onward and forward.

  6. i think you look beautiful either way. I also prefer the curly hair, only because you don't see it too much in the media and it suits you well. But the straight hair looks good too.

  9. I wish my hair was that long. Yours looks great either way. Screw the haters. I mean sometimes we spend so much time rebelling, we miss out on the wonderful things that are right in front of us: i.e. having hair to straighten, wear curly and so on and so forth. Be happy, positive and tell those others to fu*k off. I hope you get another gig soon, I miss seeing you on tv. The reruns are not enough... I have now tried to watch the Craft and look for your older movies to cure my RT fix... LMAO

  11. In the flat iron shot it reminds me of a past girlfriend. I am a sucker for a cute overbite somehow.

  12. I just got the same reaction when I posted a pic of me on FB wearing my hair curly. I usually go back & forth. When its curly, everyone's love ur afro soul sista! I had dreadlocks too for 6 years. When when my hair's straight, folks are quick to criticize. And extensions... that's an entirely different attack. I love being versatile with my hair. Dont live by other peoples expectations of you. Be versatile, be flexible, express urself. Be you.

  13. I think this is the very first time I've seen you with your hair straight and you look gorgeous just like I thought you would. And I echo some of the other users here asking you to post your hair care routine because your curls are FLAWLESS!

  14. Wow. Bet you could even pull off baldness! Straightening usually looks jarring out of place, like a wig, or conditioner-switched-with-formaldahyde-in-shower type gag, but in your case(in this photo), it works!

  15. Did someone give you a hug after you took this pic? If they didnt, they should have! You just look so sad..I'm feeling you pain. Awwwe La pauvre.

  16. eff all that and do you. I know this is hella late but I am so sick of this debate. we know the origins, we are aware of the self hate babble and such. now do what you will because none of it starts nor ends with hair. beauty is within. That's true, rachel (yes i'm corny)
